VAN BUREN, NY – Three semi trailers were involved in a chain reaction truck accident Tuesday night, December 7, on a highway in Onondaga County, New York. The multi vehicle crash was set off when one of the tractor trailers jackknifed on the New York Thruway near the city of Van Buren, NY. The accident area is in the north central section of the state, about 143 miles east of Buffalo, NY and about 140 miles north of Scranton, Pennsylvania.

CATSKILL, NY – A truck accident in the early hours on Monday morning, June 28, spilled a large amount of its chemical cargo on the New York Thruway in Greene County, New York. The single vehicle collision occurred in the northbound lanes of the highway between the towns of Saugerties and Catskill, NY. The accident area is in the north central section of the state, about 35 miles south of Albany, NY and about 42 miles west of Canaan, Connecticut.

The Thruway was closed for seven hours after 3,000 gallons of chlorine spilled from the semi.

At about 1:50 a.m. Monday morning 55 year old Robert Lawrence of Galway, NY was driving a semi tanker truck north on the New York Thruway in Greene County, NY. Mr. Lawrence was driving a tanker truck owned by Slack Chemical Company based in Cartage, NY. He was carrying a cargo of about 4,700 gallons of hypochlorite solution, a bleach-like chemical. Tom Brokaw

NEW YORK -  According to MSNBC Tom Brokaw and his wife were involved in a three-car accident on a New York City highway that killed one woman. Neither Brokaw nor his wife were injured, but the out of control SUV driver who caused the accident was killed.

The accident happened Friday afternoon on the Bruckner Expressway. Brokaw says he was driving in the highway’s left lane when he saw a spool of cable bouncing along the far right lane. Brokaw said he saw a green SUV coming up in the right lane that went out of control.

Brokaw and police say the SUV driver, an unidentified woman, slid into the middle lane, forcing a mail truck in front of Brokaw’s car. Brokaw says his car slid into the median and collided with the mail truck.

Police say the SUV driver was thrown from the vehicle, off the highway and down onto train tracks below and killed. The 69-year-old Brokaw and his wife, Meredith, were not injured.

The postal service truck driver, 54, was injured in the accident and was taken to Westchester Medical

A statement from Brokaw said he and his wife “are greatly saddened by this loss of life.

RIVERDALE, N.Y. – Accordinging to MyFoxNY a truck carrying garbage slammed into several parked cars and a tree on Broadway in the Riverdale section of the Bronx.

The crash occurred at around 5:30 a.m on Wednesday near West 259th Street near West 259th Street.

Police report that the driver was severely injured.

It’s not clear what caused the driver to lose control of the truck.
