Truck Driver in Deadly Amtrak Crash Had 5 Previous Moving Violations

WEST LOS ANGELES, CA – Police are investigating a fatal semi truck accident that occurred on March 30 in West Los Angeles. Driver Dies in California Truck Accident Near Gilroy

GILROY, CA – A truck driver died early Friday morning, August 27, after his semi trailer truck crashed on a highway in the San Jose metro region in Santa Clara County, California. The fatal collision occurred just south of the city of Gilroy, on U.S. Highway 101 between Highway 25 and Betabel Road. The accident area is in the southwest section of the state about 120 miles west of Fresno, CA and about 153 miles north of San Luis Obispo, CA.

CHP officers shut down a section of north U.S. Highway 101 while highway crews from Caltrans reported to the scene of the deadly collision to clear the traffic lanes.

At around midnight Friday an unidentified 65 year old truck driver from San Leandro, CA was driving a 2005 International tractor trailer truck north on Highway 101 through Santa Clara County, CA. Flipped Tanker Truck Explodes in San Diego

SAN DIEGO, CA – A fuel tanker truck flipped over and exploded into flames Wednesday evening, June 16, on a street in San Diego County, California. The truck accident occurred on Palm Avenue just east of Interstate 805 in San Diego’s Otay Mesa region, and forced authorities to shut down several roads in the vicinity. The area is in the southwest section of the state, about 121 miles south of Los Angeles, CA and about 18 miles north of Tijuana, Mexico.

The fire burned for over an hour creating black plumes of smoke which could be seen for miles.

At around 5:45 p.m. Wednesday evening an ARCO double tanker truck was traveling on Palm Avenue just east of Interstate 805. The semi tanker truck was carrying about 8,700 gallons of gasoline split between the two tankers. Truck Accident North of San Francisco Kills 4 Family Members

AMERICAN CANYON, CA – A truck accident killed four members of a family Thursday morning, June 3, 2010, in Napa County, California. The fatal collision involved two different semi trucks and occurred on Highway 12 near American Canyon, CA, north of the San Francisco metro region. The accident area is in northwest section of the state, about 42 miles southeast of Santa Rosa and about 76 miles north of San Jose, CA.

California Highway Patrol officers and emergency personnel rushed to the scene of the double truck accident. All four members of the family in the Subaru suffered fatal injuries and authorities believe they died instantly. They were pronounced dead at the scene.

Shortly after 8:00a.m. Thursday morning, 48 year old Matthew J. Smith of Ashland, Oregon was driving a green Subaru Forrester west on Highway 12 in Napa County. He had three family members in his vehicle, his 19 year old daughter Laura Smith of Downingtown, Pennsylvania, and his parents, Richard Smith, 80, and Sally Smith, 74, of Simsbury, Connecticut.
