Local emergency services personnel responded to the scene of the truck accident, but were unable to save Mr. Rahmings. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the truck collision.

Shortly before 6:00 a.m. Tuesday morning, 68 year old Leroy Rahmings of Lehigh Acres, FL, was driving a 1995 Dodge pickup truck north on Blackstone Drive in Lehigh Acres, FL. Mr. Rahmings has been a Community Service Deputy with the Collier County Sheriff’s Office for fourteen years, since 1995.

When Mr. Rahmings reached State Road 82 he pulled out onto the highway, directly in the path of an eastbound tractor trailer truck driven by 54 year old Kenneth Pigott.

Witnesses report that the semi truck driver, Mr. Pigott, attempted to swerve and applied his brakes to avoid an accident, but there was not enough time and the front part of the semi truck crashed into the driver’s side of Mr. Rahming’s pickup truck.

After the 18 wheeler smashed into the pickup, the smaller truck spun around counter clockwise and moved into the westbound lanes of State Road 82. The pickup truck then split into two pieces. The rear section of the pickup went onto the north shoulder of the highway, while the front cab section burst into flames and finally came to a stop in the westbound lane of the roadway.

Local emergency services personnel responded to the scene of the truck accident, but were unable to save Mr. Rahmings. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the truck collision.

Florida Highway Patrol officers also arrived at the truck accident scene and closed down the section of State Road 82 in the area of the collision. The highway would remain closed for several hours while officers reconstructed the truck accident and work crews cleared the wreckage from the roadway.

FHP officers have talked to a Lee County school bus driver who was stopped at a corner in the area of the truck accident. She related the events of the truck collision and reportedly told officers that the driver of the 18 wheeler was not speeding or driving erratically at the time of the collision. There were also two schoolchildren who were passengers on the bus at the time of the accident.

Some other drivers interviewed claim that there is a visibility problem at the intersection, and it can be difficult to see approaching traffic on State Road 82.

Mr. Rahmings was a well liked and respected Deputy in the Collier County Sheriff’s Office, and the department would be flying their flag at half-staff and wearing black stripes on their badges in Mr. Rahming’s honor.

At this time no charges have been made, and the truck accident remains under investigation.

After a preliminary investigation of the fatal truck accident, authorities have ruled out drug or alcohol use as being a factor. There were no reports that his trailer truck malfunctioned.

Shortly after 10:30 p.m. Monday night 65 year old Larry W. Rogers of Corbin, KY was traveling south on Interstate 75 in Whitley County in a 1996 Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck. A few minutes later he stopped his pickup and was straddling the shoulder and the right lane of the interstate near mile marker 26. Kentucky State Police are unsure why Mr. Rogers stopped his vehicle in the traffic lane of the highway.

At around 10:45 p.m. 44 year old Donald M. Cain of Dayton, Ohio was driving a 2007 Freightliner tractor trailer truck south on I-75 and suddenly came upon Mr. Roger’s pickup in the road. The truck driver was unable to maneuver or stop to avoid an accident and rear ended the smaller truck.

Mr. Rogers was reportedly not wearing a seat belt, and the force of the truck accident ejected him from his Chevy pickup truck out onto the roadway

Whitley County Emergency Management team and EMS personnel responded to the truck accident scene to treat the victims. They found that Mr. Rogers suffered fatal injuries and he was pronounced dead at the scene of the truck collision by the Whitley County Coroner’s Office.

Mr. Cain, the driver of the 18 wheeler, was not injured in the rear end truck collision.

Kentucky State Police and the Corbin Police Department also responded to the scene of the truck accident. They closed down the interstate in the vicinity of the truck accident for several hours while crews cleared the wreckage of the rear end crash from the interstate.

One lane of the interstate was opened by Tuesday morning.

The Kentucky State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement was also at the site to check out the mechanical operation of Mr. Cain’s Freightliner tractor trailer truck. There were no reports that his trailer truck malfunctioned.

After crashing into the rear of the 18 wheeler, Mr. Colon's Chrysler became stuck under the trailer of the truck. Authorities report that the smaller vehicle exploded and then burst into flames, engulfing the car and the two victims.

At around 6:00 a.m. on Saturday morning, March 6th, 22 year old Evan L. Colon of Pahokee, FL and an unidentified female passenger were traveling northbound on U.S. Highway 27 in a Chrysler 300 vehicle.

As Mr. Colon drove through the 7000 block area of U.S. 27 near mile marker 60 he slammed into the rear of a tractor trailer truck driven by 73 year old Juan Ramon Rodriguez of Hialeah, FL. Mr. Rodriguez was hauling a load of sugar cane at the time of the truck accident.

According to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, there were reports that Mr. Colon was driving at an excessive rate of speed at the time of the truck accident.

After crashing into the rear of the 18 wheeler, Mr. Colon’s Chrysler became stuck under the trailer of the truck. Authorities report that the smaller vehicle exploded and then burst into flames, engulfing the car and the two victims.

Local emergency and rescue teams arrived at the truck accident scene and extinguished the fiery crash. However, it would take hours for rescue personnel and highway workers to pull the semi truck and the Chrysler apart.

By the time the fire was put out and the vehicles separated, Mr. Colon and his female passenger had already died from the injuries sustained in the truck accident. Authorities believe that the two victims died instantly upon impact of the Chrysler 300 and the trailer truck. Both were pronounced dead at the scene of the fiery collision.

The trailer truck driver, Mr. Rodriquez, suffered minor injuries, primarily to his face. He was treated at the scene of the truck accident, and there were no reports that his injuries required transport to the hospital.

Accident investigators from Palm Beach County have determined that weather conditions such as fog or smoke were not factors in the fatal truck accident. There were also no reports of precipitation on the highway surface at the time of the collision.

Authorities have stated that the Chrysler 300 was moving at a high rate of speed and it does not appear that Mr. Colon applied his brakes prior to rear ending the tractor trailer truck.

No charges or citations have been made at this time, and the truck accident remains under investigation.

The trailer truck went off the left side of the interstate and crashed into the cable center dividing median. The semi truck then flipped over and finally crashed into the guardrail by the highway bridge, which crosses under Old Salem Road.

The truck accident happened a short time before 11:00 a.m. Monday morning as the truck driver was headed east on Interstate 40. The tractor trailer was hauling lumber and there was one passenger in the truck cab.

As the 18 wheeler truck traveled east on the interstate in Kernersville near NC State Route 66, the truck driver reportedly lost control of the big rig. The trailer truck went off the left side of the interstate and crashed into the cable center dividing median. The semi truck then flipped over and finally crashed into the guardrail by the highway bridge, which crosses under Old Salem Road.

Kernersville police officers and Forsyth County emergency medical services responded to the scene of the truck accident. The truck driver and the female passenger were removed from the truck cab and treated and stabilized at the scene. The two were then transported to Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC. The truck driver was reportedly transferred via an AirCare medical helicopter. Their injuries are listed as serious with one of the victims in the intensive care unit of the hospital.

NC Department of Transportation authorities shut down the left lanes of both the eastbound and westbound lanes of I-40 in the truck accident area. The lanes would remain closed for at least five hours while highway crews removed the wreckage of the truck accident. Traffic was being diverted off the highway, with westbound vehicles routed to Business 40 and eastbound vehicles sent to U.S. Route 52 and then over to Business 40 East.

Officials had brought in a flatbed truck and crews were removing the lumber from the wrecked trailer truck and transferring it to the flatbed truck. Once the entire load was removed from the damaged truck it would be hauled off of the highway.

According to a North Carolina State Transportation-Traffic Operator, the lanes were reopened between 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to allow for the evening commuter rush hour traffic. After rush hour the interstate would be closed again to remove the tractor trailer truck.

Police and highway authorities were reconstructing the truck accident to determine the cause. It is unclear why the driver lost control of the semi and the truck accident remains under investigation.

No charges or citations have been made at this time.

The 18 wheeler ended up on its side, partially in a gully at the side of the interstate. The tractor trailer finally stopped, blocking two lanes of traffic and trapping Mr. Ramos in the cab of his truck.

The truck accident happened at approximately 3:30 p.m. Tuesday afternoon as an unidentified 17 year old boy and his passenger, 47 year old Larry Armstrong, both of Attleboro, MA, were in a 1997 Chevrolet Geo Prism. They were entering the southbound lanes of Interstate 495 from the exit ramp of Interstate 93 North.

After the teenage driver entered the interstate he attempted to merge into the center lane and lost control of the Geo Prism. The car smashed into the guardrail and then spun back into the interstate lanes directly in the path of a southbound trailer truck driven by 33 year old Varry Ramos of Worcester, MA.

The truck driver was unable to avoid an accident and crashed into the Geo Prism. After striking the car, the tractor trailer then went out of control and rolled over on the interstate’s right shoulder. The 18 wheeler ended up on its side, partially in a gully at the side of the interstate. The tractor trailer finally stopped, blocking two lanes of traffic and trapping Mr. Ramos in the cab of his truck.

Andover firefighters and emergency personnel responded to the truck accident. The 17 year old driver and his passenger were able to get themselves out of the smashed up Geo Prism. They were treated and stabilized at the scene and transported by ambulance to Lawrence General Hospital. They both reportedly suffered serious but not life threatening injuries.

Andover firefighters worked for about an hour to extricate Mr. Ramos from the trailer truck cab, using a hydraulic device to get the truck driver out. Once free Mr. Ramos was stabilized and then taken by medical helicopter to Beth Deaconess Hospital in Boston, MA. The latest report listed Mr. Ramos as being in fair condition suffering from serious injuries.

After the truck accident, Massachusetts State Police shut down all southbound lanes of I-495 while crews removed the wreckage from the area. A flatbed truck was brought in to remove the remains of the crushed Geo Prism. A team from Coady’s Towing in Lawrence, MA used a heavy duty crane to hoist up the overturned trailer truck back up on its wheels. The 18 wheeler was then removed from the truck accident scene.

The truck accident also caused about 150 gallons of diesel fuel to spill out of the truck. A crew from the State Department of Environmental Protection was called to the scene to contain and clean up the fuel spill.

The southbound lanes were closed for over three hours, reopening around 7:00 p.m.

At this time no charges have been bought, pending the completion of the truck accident.

Other departments working on the investigation included Mass Highway, State Police Crime Scene Services Station, Collision Analysis Reconstruction Section, and the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Section.

Fifteen of the 21 bus passengers were transported to hospitals, including five who suffered serious injuries and were taken by helicopter.

Aerial video showed emergency crews from several agencies breaking out windows, trying to remove victims from the mangled bus. Medics set up a triage area on the freeway to treat the injured. A total of five medical helicopters were called out to the scene.

Graves told reporters that two men and four women were killed. The bus was carrying 21 passengers. All those killed and injured were on the bus.

Helicopters landed on the freeway to airlift the most critically injured.

Fifteen of the 21 bus passengers were transported to hospitals, including five who suffered serious injuries and were taken by helicopter, Graves said. Two 11-year-olds — a boy and a girl — are among the injured.

Two 11-year-old children, a boy and a girl, reportedly were among the injured.

Eight of the patients, including the 11-year-old boy and the bus driver, were taken to Maricopa Medical Center.

“We’re seeing broken spines, broken pelvises, broken ribs — pretty severe injuries,” said Michael Murphy.

The bus, which is owned by a Los Angeles company called Tierra Santa, reportedly was coming from Durango, Mexico. A new driver took over when the bus crossed the border in El Paso, Texas.

Westbound traffic was being diverted at Casa Blanca Road. That detour will take traffic north to connect with Loop 202 and 101. Drivers will be able to take Riggs Road or Queen Creek Road back to I-10.

The multi truck accident left the Dodge pickup sandwiched between the 18 wheeler and the delivery truck, the right passenger side of the pickup completely caved in by the impact.

The truck accident occurred shortly after 2:00 p.m. Friday afternoon at the intersection of the Kansas Expressway/Route 13 and Division Street. A 2002 Dodge pickup truck driven by 42 year old Edwin Kropf was heading east on division St., his 42 year old twin brother Edward was the passenger in the pickup. The brothers were Amish-Mennonite farmers from the Everton, MO area. 

As Mr. Kropf reached the intersection of the Kansas Expressway/Route 13, he apparently ignored his red-light signal and entered the intersection directly in the path of northbound traffic.

A 2007 Volvo tractor trailer truck traveling north on Kansas Expressway/Route 13 slammed into the passenger side of the Dodge pickup. The force of the truck accident then pushed the pickup truck into another tractor trailer which was carrying a load of windows.

According to a witness of the truck accident, the driver of the Volvo tractor trailer truck, 36 year old Christopher M. Doyle of Orlando, Florida, attempted to avoid hitting the pickup truck but there was not enough space or time to stop or maneuver out of the way. The semi truck also clipped a westbound vehicle sitting at a red-light at the intersection.

The multi truck accident left the Dodge pickup sandwiched between the 18 wheeler and the delivery truck, the right passenger side of the pickup completely caved in by the impact.

Springfield emergency personnel responded to the truck accident scene and worked to get the Kropf brothers out of the wrecked Dodge pickup. The passenger, Edward Kropf suffered fatal injuries and died upon impact.

His brother, driver Edwin Kropf was treated and stabilized at the scene and then transported to a local hospital. His injuries were serious but he reportedly was awake and speaking with family Friday evening.

The driver of the Volvo tractor trailer, Christopher Dodd, was not injured in the truck accident. There was damage to his truck, which is owned by Windy Hill Foliage, of Marshfield, Wisconsin. The driver of the window delivery truck and the clipped vehicle were also not injured in the multi truck collision.

The multi truck accident took out several traffic lights at the intersection of Division and Kansas Expressway, and sent debris flying into the air. The collision also damaged the gas tanks on the trucks and diesel fuel was spilled onto Division St.

Springfield officials closed down the area around the truck accident, bringing local traffic to a standstill. The southbound lanes of the Kansas expressway were reopened at about 3:30 p.m.

The remaining lanes would open back up later Friday, once crews had finished cleaning up the spill diesel fuel and removing the truck accident wreckage from the scene.

No charges have been made at this time. The truck accident remains under investigation.

Debris from the truck accident was strewn across the eastbound lanes of I-96, closing done some of the east traffic lanes while crews cleared the concrete pieces from the damaged median.

At around 6:45 a.m. Thursday morning an unidentified truck driver, hauling a load of steel coils, was headed west on Interstate 96. Each of the steel coils was reported to weigh about 45,000 pounds.

As the truck driver was driving near the area of Kent Lake Road he apparently lost control of his 18 wheeler and crashed into the concrete highway median, sending pieces of concrete flying into the east bound lanes of the interstate.

The roadway surfaces were icy on Thursday morning and there were several spinouts and accidents reported in the area.

After crashing into the median, the tractor trailer truck then jack-knifed across the interstate, and ended up blocking all westbound lanes of the highway, the truck cab appearing to be partially ripped from the trailer flat bed. The truck engine was also shot out of the cab due to the impact of the truck accident. The truck trailer did not lose the load of steel coils, which remained on the truck.

Local emergency personnel responded to the scene of the truck accident. The truck driver was treated and stabilized at the site and then transported to Providence Hospital in Novi, MI. His injuries are not expected to be life threatening. An unidentified passenger in the truck was also treated and transported to the hospital with non life threatening injuries.

Michigan Department of Transportation officials also responded to the truck accident scene. Debris from the truck accident was strewn across the eastbound lanes of I-96, closing done some of the east traffic lanes while crews cleared the concrete pieces from the damaged median.

The westbound lanes of the interstate were closed until MDOT crews could remove the tractor trailer truck from the lanes. The crews would work for most of the day removing the wreckage from the highway.

By 4:00 p.m. Thursday afternoon all eastbound and westbound lanes of the interstate were reopened, just in time for the afternoon rush hour.

MDOT investigators are still reviewing the truck accident. While the icy conditions of the interstate surfaces may be a factor, officials have not determined the cause of the accident. The investigation of the truck accident remains open.

No charges or citations have been made at this time.

Crushed SUV involved in fatal semi truck accident in South Haven, Kansas on the Kansas Turnpike.

Lieutenant Phil Bostian told Eyewitness News 12 that the SUV pulled off on the right hand shoulder as if it was going to stop. The truck driver thought they were going to stop so he moved over to the left lane in order to give them some extra room.

Instead the big rig slammed into the SUV driver’s side, two people were thrown from the car and died instantly. Two others were trapped inside and couldn’t be saved. A fifth person was airlifted to a Wichita hospital and is in serious condition.

State troopers say this is a reminder for drivers to follow the rules.

“It is illegal to make a u-turn through the barrier wall,” says Lt. Bostian. “It’s only for emergency vehicles and maintenance vehicles.”

The four people who died in the accident were:

* Driver 39-year-old Michael Minor of Sedgwick
* 27-year-old Chad Kingsley of Wichita
* 22-year-old Johnette Grimes of Wichita
* 23-year-old Lindsey Shain of Wichita.

Kingsley and Grimes were engaged and gave birth to a daughter last month. Grimes also leaves behind a two-year-old daughter.

The driver of the semi truck was not injured.

A trust fund has been set up for the children of all of the victims. Donations can be made at the First Choice Credit, located near 13th and Maize, in the name of Michael Minor.

Shortly after 5:00 p.m. Saturday evening the unidentified truck driver was heading west on Interstate 40. When the truck driver was in the area near mile marker 32 on the interstate he attempted to merge into the right lane and hit a passenger car that was in that lane already.

After hitting the car, the truck driver apparently lost control of the 18 wheeler and crashed into the overpass at Lone Oak Road Bridge. The cab of the tractor trailer smashed into a supporting pillar holding up the bridge and then continued for several feet before rolling over on its side. When the semi truck rolled over the impact split open the trailer and the contents spilled out onto the interstate.

Arkansas State Police and emergency personnel responded to the scene of the truck accident. The truck driver had suffered serious injuries in the collision and was treated and stabilized at the scene. He was then medically airlifted to St. Edward Mercy Medical Center in Fort Smith.

Officials reported that his condition was not life threatening, however one of his feet had to be amputated because of the injuries he sustained in the truck accident.

The passengers in the car, an unidentified young woman and an infant, were not injured in the truck accident. The car was damaged but did not overturn in the collision with the truck.

State Police shut down the Lone Oak Road Bridge until experts could determine the extent of damage to the supporting pillar. Officials also shut down the section of I-40 around the truck accident scene while investigators reconstructed the accident. Traffic was being diverted off the highway and drivers sent onto U.S. 64.

Highway crews were also brought in to clear the dumped load that was strewn on the highway and remove the wreckage of the tractor trailer and car.
The section of the highway would remain closed for about three hours.

State Police stated that they did not smell the odor of alcohol or other intoxicants on the driver of the car, but they would be conducting routine blood tests. The truck driver was expected to be tested at the hospital.
