Semi-Truck Collides With Train Near Clymers, IN

CLYMERS, IN – Sep 1st – At 4pm Indiana State Police went to the scene of a truck accident where a train has collided with a semi-truck just off State Road 25. Witnesses state that the truck was crossing the tracks while its horn was blowing when the train hit the truck. The cab was separated from the trailer and the driver was ejected, who was later air lifted to a hospital in the area. In the collision, the trailer split open and spilled corn onto the roadway.

The intersection had no signal and no barrier. Although not disclosing much information, police did say that State Road 25 will be closed between State Road 75 and State Road 24 and they expect it to stay closed until Wednesday morning.

Indiana UPS truck crash kills driver

ROCHESTER, Ind. (Indiana’s NewsCenter) -  Scott Sarvay from the Indiana News Center reports that a UPS driver was killed early Tuesday morning after a single vehicle crash near Rochester.

It was around 6:30 a.m. when state police were called to U.S. 31 at State Road 14.

Police say 53-year-old Robert Bozell of Tipton, was driving the semi pulling two box style trailers, when for some unknown reason he traveled into the grass median and struck a bridge’s concrete pillar.

Bozell was pronounced dead at the scene.

The overpass bridge was inspected and showed no structural damage due to the crash.

Rescue crew works on burnt wreckage of Dodge pick-up hit by semi truck, killing family of 5.

The following story occurred on June 26, 2009, but because of ongoing  interest in this story we have decided to publish it today.

Crown Point,  IN – A mother, father and their three children were killed early Friday on June 26th when their pick-up truck was pinned between two semis on I-65 near Crown Point, Indiana state police said.

The I-65 crash occurred just after 4 a.m. at the Crown Point exit as traffic backed up because a car was being towed from the interstate, state police said.

The flat-bed semi and Dodge pick-up truck, carrying a family of five were stopped, when a semi truck with double-box trailers came over a hill and could not stop in time. The semi hit the pick-up and pushed it into the back of the flat-bed setting the pick-up on fire which in turn spread to the semi that hit it.

The dead were identified as Brian W. Workman, 33, Joanna L. Workman, 31, Ashley Workman, 13, Tyler Workman, 8, and Ryan Workman, 1. All were from Hobart, Ind.

The family was pronounced dead at the scene by the Lake County Coroner’s office.  The driver of the semi escaped unharmed.

Indiana Truck Accident Closes I-65 for Three Hours

A dump truck crash carrying slate and dirt occured Tuesday just before 11 a.m. which caused the left two lanes in each direction to close for about three hours, Indiana State Police said.

The driver, Tammy L. Isenberg, 43, of Sellersburg, told police she reached down to pick up a cigarette but lost control and slammed into the center concrete median wall, state police said.

The truck fell on its side, but Isenberg was not hurt.

According to the Courier- Journal, all Interstate 65 lanes just north of exit 5 in Southern Indiana have reopened following the crash of the dump truck.
