POMONA, NJ – A semi truck ran a red light in Pomona, NJ on November 4, colliding with two vehicles and then running over a third car with three occupants, killing its driver. A total of seven other people were injured in the accident. Pomona is located in Galloway Township, in the southern part of the state about 60.7 miles southeast of Trenton.
The accident happened at about 11:30 a.m. on November 4 when an 18 wheeler traveling west on U.S. Route 30 (W White Horse Pike) ran a red light and struck two vehicles traveling south on S Pomona Rd.
The big rig then swerved into the eastbound lanes and struck a third vehicle, running over it and pinning 3 occupants inside. The driver of that car was airlifted to the hospital where he later died from his injuries.
The deceased driver was identified as William Anthony Jr., 69 years old from Hammonton.
The intersection was closed until about 4:30 p.m. while emergency responders conducted rescue operations and for the accident site to be investigated and cleared.
The semi truck driver was identified as Greg Hoover, 23 years old from Seabrook, NJ. There are no details of any charges against Hoover.
