WILSON, NC – A tractor trailer whose load shifted, overturned on October 16, near an on-ramp on a curve in Wilson, NC. The city Wilson is located in Wilson County, NC in the east-central part of the state about 50 miles east of Raleigh.
The semi truck accident happened around 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 16, when the load shifted on a curve in a semi trailer with 20,000 to 30,000 lbs of metal plates.
The 18 wheeler had just picked up its load of cargo only about a mile away at the Firestone Tire facility on Firestone Parkway. The truck was heading north towards Rocky Mount, NC near the U.S. Highway 301 on-ramp less than a half-mile away.
The truck driver was taken to a local hospital where he was treated for minor injuries.
Some diesel fuel was spilled in the incident and was cleaned up by firefighters.
The section of Firestone Parkway was closed for about 4 hours while State Troopers, cleanup crews and other first responders processed the scene of the accident.
