Bradenton FL Semi Truck Accident Near Tampa On I-75

Author: BRADENTON, FL – There was a semi truck accident on Wednesday morning, Oct 7, 2009 at about 8:45 am in Bradenton, Florida in East Manatee County near Tampa. The tractor-trailer was hauling gravel when it crashed on an exit ramp from Interstate 75 to State road 70. The driver suffered minor injuries and had to be extricated from the semi truck’s cab.
The exit ramps at this intersection (the Trooper Jd Young Bridge) are very tight and truck drivers need to drive carefully, especially while hauling heavy loads like gravel (see inset in map below).
The truck accident spilled gravel on the State Road 70 exit ramp causing major backups and caused the exit ramp to be shut down for around two hours. The driver’s identity was not immediately released. He was taken to Lakewood Ranch Medical Center near Tampa for treatment.
