Lindsay Lohan Crashes Into 18 Wheeler on Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) in Santa Monica. Truck Driver Says Accident Was ‘All Her Fault’
SANTA MONICA, Calif. — Lindsay Lohan was involved in an 18 wheeler accident on Friday, June 8, on Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) in Santa Monica. The 25-year old actress, who is no stranger to car accidents, was lucky to escape without life-threatening injuries after crashing her car into an 18-wheeler truck.
Lohan was driving a rented black Porsche on Pacific Coast Highway in Santa Monica in Los Angeles county, when she slammed into the back of an 18-wheeler truck around noon. The Porsche was completely totaled. The passenger window was shattered and the bumper was fully off her car. The Porsche was taken away by a tow truck.
Eyewitnesses told TMZ that both Lohan and her assistant (the passenger) were bleeding and bruised, and the assistant was taken by an ambulance en route to the hospital. Lindsay and her assistant were both conscious after the accident.
Law enforcement sources told TMZ that Lohan and the truck driver were not under the influence of alcohol.
The semi truck driver claims that the accident was entirely Lohan’s fault.
The man in question – who has been identified only as James – told TMZ that he had been minding his own business when he felt the impact of Lohan’s Porsche.
He said: ‘She came over and hit the back of the truck. Then the car pulled up on the sidewalk.’
And he claims he can prove it, with the help of eyewitnesses who were at the scene.
He said: ‘They have a video of this whole incident.’
The semi truck driver alleged that he was driving at 40 miles per hour along the Pacific Coast Highway when Lohan hit him.
The truck driver said that Lohan tried to bribe him. Meanwhile, sources told TMZ that Lohan is insisting that the truck driver has made the whole story up in a possible attempt to extort money out of her.
Apparently she is also telling friends that she never offered him a bribe to keep quiet, as he previously reportedly stated.
Lindsay was taken to the Santa Monica UCLA Hospital following the crash but was discharged after a check-up by doctors.
She then reportedly headed straight from the hospital to the set of her latest movie Liz & Dick.
TMZ reports that Law enforcement sources say that Lindsay Lohan lied to cops on Friday when she told them she was NOT driving the Porsche that slammed into a truck on the Pacific Coast Highway, and as a result she could be prosecuted and her probation could be revoked.
TMZ sources say, when Lindsay was in the hospital getting checked out after the accident, officers from the Santa Monica Police Dept. paid a visit. Lindsay told police she was a passenger in the Porsche and her assistant was driving. But the lie didn’t stick because later Lindsay’s assistant told police Lindsay was behind the wheel.
We’re told police are writing up a report that will include Lindsay’s lie. It’s a crime to provide false info to a police officer. In addition, lying to police could trigger a probation violation in her shoplifting case, which means she faces the possibility of jail on 2 fronts.
Several eyewitnesses at the scene tell TMZ, after the crash Lindsay and her assistant both got out of the car on the passenger side, which means Lindsay had to climb over the console.
TMZ also reported on their website on June 12 that Lindsay Lohan was driving with an open container of alcohol when she crashed into a truck Friday on the Pacific Coast Highway … law enforcement sources tell TMZ.
Both law enforcement sources and the tow truck driver tell TMZ … cops confiscated a plastic water bottle from the trunk of the Porsche, and our law enforcement sources tell us the bottle contained alcohol. Another law enforcement source tells us the bottle was actually in the debris field and scooped up along with other parts and placed in the trunk before it was towed away.
It’s not a violation to carry an open container in a trunk, so it looks like Lohan is in the clear. And according to cops she had no alcohol in her system.
