AMARILLO, TX – A woman from Clovis, New Mexico was injured when her car was struck by a semi truck on September 30, 2009 around 9:00 am. The semi truck accident occurred in the 2400 block of Mabry Drive in Clovis, NM when a female driver, a military member from the Cannon Air Force Base, failed to yield right of way on a left turn to the oncoming semi tractor trailer truck. When the crash occurred, the vehicle driven by the female spun out of control then was shoved onto the side of the road.

The driver was taken to a Clovis hospital where the extent of her injuries was determined. It was found that she had a broken back and required a neurosurgeon, so she was airlifted to a trauma hospital in Lubbock, Texas near Amarillo.

The Clovis Police and Fire Departments were dispatched to the scene of the accident. The driver is an active duty military member at Cannon AFB so her name is not being released at this time. It is not known at this time whether her family has been contacted or not.

There was severe damage sustained to both vehicles. The driver of the semi-truck was not injured.

The semi truck accident is active and still under investigation by the Traffic Crash Team of the Clovis Police Department. Charges are pending at this time against the driver of the car for failure to yield the right of way on a left turn.
