TEMECULA, CA – A man driving a vehicle on Interstate 15 in Temecula was killed Friday morning, March 30, at about 7:30 a.m. when he drifted onto the shoulder crashing into a tractor trailer that was stopped there. Temecula is located in Riverside County, California in the southern part of the state about 85 miles southeast of Los Angeles and 49 miles south of San Bernardino.
The victim, a 34-year old man from Wildomar, was driving a 1997 Toyota equipped with a tank and vacuuming device used for parking lots. A witness told officers that the vacuum truck had been weaving before the crash occurred and that the truck was going about 40 mph when it struck the semi truck.
Officer Nathan Baer, a spokesman for the Temecula-area California Highway Patrol office, said the driver of the 18 wheeler, Donnie Miller, a 55-year-old Texas resident, had stopped on the shoulder of the Winchester Road exit from southbound Interstate 15 to call his dispatch center for directions.
Riverside County coroner’s officials did not identify the man Friday.
The incident remains under investigation at this time.
