ST. LOUIS, MO. – Richard Watts 65 of O’Fallon, Missouri was killed Tuesday afternoon, April 13, in an accident involving a tractor trailer truck and a car on eastbound Interstate 70 at Union Blvd in north St. Louis.

Officials believe that Watts was trying to pass a tractor trailer truck on the shoulder of eastbound I-70 at around 2:45 pm Tuesday, and crashed into a guard rail in the process.

Watts was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash closed the highway during the afternoon rush hour near the express lanes of I-70 at Union Boulevard for several hours.

There were no other injuries reported at the time of the incident.

While the accident remains under investigation, the truck driver is not expected to be charged.
