Toledo Semi Truck Accident Closes I-75 Northbound
Toledo, OH Aug 22, 2009 – According to Toledo Police a semi truck driver apparently fell asleep Saturday night while driving northbound on I-75 in north Toledo a few miles south of the Michigan state line.
Witnesses near the scene told police they saw the semi truck swerve into a guardrail, tearing open the truck’s diesel fuel tank and hitting a guardrail before crashing into the concrete median.
There were no life-threatening injuries reported, police said, but the interstate remained closed at the Ottawa River Road exit at 11:25 p.m. while clean-up crews removed the wreckage and used absorbent material to soak up diesel fuel spilled over the roadway.
Traffic was backed up for several miles to the I-280/I-75 northbound interchange and beyond.
