Speeding Truck Rolls Over, Blocks Traffic in Massachusetts
WALTHAM, MA – A speeding truck went out of control and rolled over Tuesday afternoon, May 18, 2010, blocking several lanes of traffic on a highway in Middlesex County, Massachusetts. The truck accident happened on US 95/Route 128 north in the town of Waltham, west of the Boston metropolitan region. The accident area is in the east central section of the state, about 50 miles north of Providence, Rhode Island and about 38 miles southeast of Nashua, New Hampshire.

Shortly after 1:00 p.m. Tuesday afternoon, 50 year old Douglas Mace of Waltham was driving a Boston Bark semi tractor trailer loaded with woodchips and light yard waste north on US 95/Route 128 in Waltham, MA. Boston Bark is a landscaping business based in Waltham.
The truck driver was reportedly speeding when he suddenly lost control of the 18 wheeler in the area near Exit 26 and the entry ramp from westbound Route 20. The trailer truck tipped over on its side, skidded for a short distance, and finally came to a stop blocking several lanes of traffic.

The rollover truck accident caused major delays on US 95/Route 128 and other nearby roads as officers had to shut down the area around the disabled truck while crews were brought in to clean up the traffic lanes and move the trailer truck off the highway.
No other drivers or vehicles were involved in the truck accident.
Emergency personnel responded to the scene of the rollover and treated the truck driver before transporting him to Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Burlington, about 12 miles away. Authorities did not release the details of the truck driver’s injuries but they are believed to be non life threatening.

These closures backed up traffic to Route 9 in Wellesley for over an hour. The highway was finally reopened shortly before 5:00 p.m. Tuesday during the afternoon commuter rush.
Vincent Mula, the owner of Boston Bark and the semi trailer involved in the truck accident, issued a statement that the company considered Mr. Mace “a very good driver, a very safe driver.” Mr. Mula commented that the truck driver may have been cut off by another vehicle or lost control when he was trying to get off the highway.
Massachusetts State Police officers also responded to the truck accident to investigate and determined that the truck driver was at fault. MSP issued Mr. Mace a citation for speeding.
